Anil K Sood
Professor and Co-Founder
Anil is a professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Complex Choices (IASCC). IASCC is a, registered not-for-profit, institute for higher learning set with an objective of advancing the science and practice of making choices. Prior to the founding of IASCC, Anil practiced as an independent, self-employed professional helping firms build growth capability through his customized learning solutions in Business and Corporate Finance and Strategy.
Anil’s recent work has been with leading firms in consumer, manufacturing, information technology, pharmaceutical, engineering and construction, telecom, financial services, media and entertainment, banking and healthcare in India and many developed (e.g., Europe, Japan, South Korea, Australia, etc.) as well as developing (China, Indonesia, Middle-East, etc.) markets.
He is a PGDM (MBA Programme) and Fellow (PhD Programme) from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and combines strong industry and academic experience of nearly 35 years. His industry experience includes management accounts, business development and financial accounting assignments with Smith Kline Beecham Consumer Health Limited, Delhi from 1983 to 1986 and executive (Business Head) responsibilities with Scientific Engineering (P) Limited, Hyderabad from 1986 to 1990.
His academic work at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), where he was a Professor of Finance till January 2006. While at the College, he has worked on training/consulting assignments for several domestic and international firms across Asia. He was an honorary member of the Study Committee on Financing the Global Energy Sector- the Task Ahead, World Energy Council, London, UK during 1996-97 and has subsequently worked with them on Pricing of Energy in Developing Countries. Anil is serving as an independent director on Megasoft’s Board, which is a medium-sized product and services focused technology firm based in India. He has served a term on the Board of Directors of Andhra Bank and has worked as a member of Technical Experts Committee for Restructuring of Punjab and Sind Bank. He has also been on the Board of VisualSoft Technologies Limited as an independent director.
Anil has been an adjunct faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and Vizag and taught a course on Valuation. He is also an honorary Senior Professor of Finance and Strategy at the Centre for Organisation Development, Hyderabad. He has taught courses on Corporate Finance at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad; Bank Performance Analysis, Financial Engineering and Risk Management at IIM Indore, and; Advanced Corporate Finance at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He has also supervised dissertations for the Distance Learning MBA Programme of the Manchester Business School, UK and the Executive MBA programme at S P Jain, Dubai.
